What is unassisted cremation?

Unassisted cremation, sometimes called direct cremation, is a simple cremation carried out without a viewing, procession or funeral ceremony. We collect and care for your loved one, handle the paperwork and cremation, and return the ashes to your family.

How is this different from a full funeral service?

A full funeral includes a hearse, service, venue and ceremony logistics. Unassisted cremation covers collection, care and cremation only, which keeps the cost lower for families who don’t need or want a formal service on the day.

Can we still hold a memorial service afterwards?

Yes. Many families choose unassisted cremation and then hold a memorial, thanksgiving or scattering ceremony separately, in their own time. We can help coordinate that whenever you’re ready — including 16-day, 40-day, or thanksgiving observances.

How long does the process take?

Once we have the required documentation, arrangements can usually be completed within a few days. We’ll confirm exact timing with you as soon as you contact us.

What happens to the ashes?

The ashes are returned to the family in a standard urn. From there you’re free to keep, bury or scatter them, or use them as part of a later memorial ceremony.
